Book 1 – The Secret Discovered

Chapter 1

Mellow jumped through the sparkling snow, her dark, furry tabby pelt blended in with the night sky.

The moon showed in the reflection of her eyes as a red tear-drop shaped gleamed crimson above her right eye.

“Mellow, honey, get back here!” Her worried mother’s voice echoed in the trees.

“Comming, Mum!” Mellow called bac,her breath forming in tiny icecales.

The young cat splashed in a snow drift, climbed clumsily out, then raced back towards the house. Warm,bright light showered Mellow as she entered the house. The snow melted imeditley, drenching Mellow in water.

“There you are, sweetie!” Mellow jumped. Her mother entered the room.

She was a creamy brown she-cat with one patch of white on her tail. She eyed the water-soaked cat then hurried out of the room. She returned later with a towel clenched firmly in her mouth.

“Oh Mum! Please don’t dry me! I’m fine enough, see?” As to prove it,Mellow gave her fur a good long shake. Water sprayed all over the room.

“Mellowfelia!” Her mother snapped. She rarely used Mellow’s full name. “What have I told you about that?” The cat’s eyes glared sternly down at Mellow.

Mellow sighed. “That your fur will be rough and spikey and you will catch a cold,” she murmered. Her mother nodded aprovingly, ignorig Mellow’s tiny pink tongue that was sticking out at her face.

Before Mellow could make another move,she started rubbing fiercly at Mellow’sfur with the towel. After a surprisingly long two minutes of towel drying her fur, she stepped back to admire her work.

Mellow’s fur was puffed up and poofy and her skin was bright pink. Two green eyes stared threateningly back at her mother.

“Well, I guess i ‘tortured’ you enough. You may go, honey, and give your fur a good brush while your at it!”

Mellow stalked awkwardly out of the room, her tail held high. She reached the room and closed the door.Mellow flopped down onto the bed,exhusted.

Who knew jumpign in show could be so tiring?
